Cloudscape 2020: Mission Digital  Agenda

September 17, 2020
Time Title
9:30am - 10:00am (EST) Cloudscape 2020 Opening Keynote: Unprecedented Opportunity Amidst an Unprecedented Landscape

The series of events that have impacted American and global business in 2020 have enhanced the importance of technology as a business enabler, accelerated digital era trends, and opened doors to unprecedented business opportunities. This session will focus on current business and technology trends and key strategies for unlocking the opportunities at hand.

10:00am - 10:45am (EST) COVID-19: A Shift In Normal

COVID-19 has dramatically changed our working and personal lives at a speed that is hard to imagine. The way we were working and planning pre-COVID was turned on its head as mass workforces went remote overnight. Some were ready but many were not and, even for those that were technically prepared, the complexity of negotiating cultural changes remained. As we work in a COVID world, the role of IT collaboration and geographically dispersed systems is our daily reality but as we plan for the future, what will that look like and will we ever return to the "normality" of pre-COVID... or is there a new normal? Join us for a candid roundtable discussion and hear directly from three IT leaders about the challenges and the opportunities they face as we all navigate this new normal of business.

Presented by Simon Johnson, SVP, Technical Business Advisory Services with Special Client Guests,
Arthur W. Harvey III, VP & CIO, Boston Medical Center
Jay Pasteris, CIO & CISO, New England Journal of Medicine/Massachusetts Medical Society
Rob Drew, VP, Global IT, SharkNinja

12:15pm - 01:00pm (EST) Lunch / Featured Keynote: The Great Digital Pivot
Presented by Tom Koulopoulos
Author, Futurist, and Chairman and Founder, Delphi Group

Digital disruption isn’t a new topic. We’ve been talking about its importance across all industries for the better part of the last two decades. Yet, many companies and government agencies have been slow to adopt technologies that move them into the cloud, transform their operations to fully digital platforms, and enable advances in AI and machine learning.

Suddenly, all of that has changed. Digital disruption, a topic of discussion and debate, has now become the subject of survival.

COVID-19 has made it clear in dramatic and undeniable terms that many of our institutions are woefully unprepared to deal with the levels of digital agility needed for the new normal. Education, healthcare, retail, supply chains and manufacturing, banking and finance, are all in the midst of what will be the greatest digital pivot of our lifetime.

While there is no single solution to the unique problems each of these industries faces, it’s clear that we have finally reached the end of the industrial era models that were used over the last 200 years to build and to scale our commercial and social institutions. The time for conversation is over; it’s time to double-down and build the digital future.

In this tour-de-force virtual keynote, Tom will lay out the foundation for that digital future, from the behaviors and business models that will survive to the technologies that will enable entirely new ways of connecting and conducting commerce.

It’s a disruptive and unconventional vision, but it’s also a radically optimistic and hopeful view of how the digital future will bring new opportunities to those companies and individuals who have the courage to pivot.

01:00pm - 01:15pm (EST) Break (15 min)

01:15pm - 02:00pm (EST) Cloud Optimization: Quick Wins for Cost Savings

Join us to learn how activities such as cloud account hygiene, resource scheduling, and task automation can lead to tremendous cost savings if they are executed (or automated) properly. We will also discuss how these basic Cloud Optimization activities lead to increased confidence in IT and its ability to effectively deploy, manage, and govern workloads in the cloud.

If I Could Only Do 10 Things to Secure My Organization & Data, This Is What I Would Do…

There are hundreds of different ways to approach the important challenge of securing your organization and all its data spread across multiple environments. Faced with so many options, clients often ask us what the top 10 things are that they should be doing. CIS has their 20, while NIST, AWS, and Microsoft all have their recommendations. So, who should you listen to? Which should you tackle first? During this session, we will be sharing several ways to enhance your overall security posture with detailed specifics on the steps necessary to provide real value to your organization.

Presented by Randy Becker & Nate McDonald
02:00pm - 02:15pm (EST) Break Break
02:15pm - 03:00pm (EST) Transformation Begins with Modernization

All companies have a history, even newer companies. Whether that history informs your future, or defines it, is a matter of choice. We find that companies who commit to modernizing have a much better chance at successfully transforming themselves, whereas organizations that protect legacy decisions have a much harder time. Here's the trick–this isn't about technology. Modernizing is about updating all aspects of IT, embracing new paradigms and tools and yes– it's also about helping the people we manage define themselves professionally. Join us to learn why and how to achieve transformation by truly modernizing your IT organizational approach.

GreenPages' Cloud Xcelerator Platform: Cloud Automation in Action

Organizations are looking for ways to improve the efficiency and agility of their IT environment as well as address future capacity and scale their business to accommodate projected growth. How can you build out a public cloud platform using DevOps and scripting/Terraform or other delivery platforms for the automation-based deployment of public cloud? GreenPages’ Cloud Xcelerator Platform (GPCX) is a multi-cloud reference architecture and automation framework that helps organizations solve complex technical challenges around cloud connectivity, identity and access management, security, and governance. Join us to learn how GPCX provides the secure framework needed to quickly iterate and modularly build infrastructure as code. We’ll demonstrate how this repeatable hybrid cloud architecture can secure, manage, and integrate your network across on-premises and public cloud utilizing AWS or Azure landing zones. You’ll also hear first-hand how one of our clients, Woodforest National Bank, utilized GreenPages’ hybrid cloud reference implementation to deploy, secure, and manage their hybrid cloud environment on Microsoft Azure.

Presented by Nathan Farrar & David Jones with Special Client Guest, Philip Sinquefield of Woodforest National Bank

03:15pm - 04:00pm (EST) Strategies for Executing on a Tight Budget

In this current climate, many of us are faced with the reality of significant budget reductions as a result of the economic impact of COVID. While "doing more with less" is an old familiar concept, there are however new and creative ways companies can achieve their business and technology goals with decreased spend. Join us to learn how you can implement a comprehensive strategy to release and reallocate trapped value, optimize your cloud spend, consolidate, simplify third party expense management, and financially plan for success.
